35 Eastern Wainwrights

1 Helvellyn 950m

Helvellyn is the highest peak in the Eastern fells, and the 3rd highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Helvellyn towers above Glenridding in between the lakes of Ullswater and Thrilmere. Helvellyn can be summited from all directions the most popular route is via the iconic striding edge.
2 Nethermost Pike 891m

Nethermost Pike is the 2nd highest mountain in the eastern fells and the 9th highest of all the wainwrights. Nethermost pike is located on the Helvellyn range just south of its parent peak Helvellyn. This giant land mass seperates Thrilmere and Ullswater. Nethermost pike can also be summited along with Dollywaggon Pike located to the south of Nethermost Pike.


3 Catsycam 890m

Catsycam is the 3rd highest of all the eastern fells and the 10th highest's of all the wainwrights. Catsycam is located just south of Helvellyn connected via swirral each, the pointed peak of Catsycam is somewhat seperated from other wainwirghts however still nestled in the surrounding fells.
4 Raise 883m

Raise is the 4th highest wainwright in the eastern fells and the 12th highest of all the wainwrights. Raise is situated on the Helvellyn range just north of Helvellyn. The only ski centre in the Lake District is located near this peak.


5 Fairfield 873m

Fairfield is the 5th highest peak of the eastern fells and the 13th highest of all the wainwrights. Helvellyn is lat the head of Ambleside and south of the Helvellyn range. Fairfield can be summited by doing the popular Fairfield horseshoe which contains 8 other wainwrights, Fairfield being the highest of these 8.
6 White Side 863m

White Side is the 6th highest wainwright in the eastern fells and the 16th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. White side is situated on the Helvellyn range just north of Helvellyn. The land mass in which White is located lies between thrilmere and Ullswater.


7 Dollywaggon Pike 858m

Dollywaggon Pike is the 7th highest in the eastern fells and the 18th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Dollywaggon Pike is situated on the Helvellyn range and is the most southern peak on the spine. The Iconic Fairfield is located south of Dollywaggon Pike with seat sandal inbetween to the west and st Sunday crag to the East.
8 Great Dodd 857m

Great Dodd is the 8th highest of the eastern fells and the overall 19th highest of the wainwrigths. Great Dodd is located on the northern side of the Long Helvellyn range past Sticks Pass. Great Dodd is the highest peak of the northern section of the Helvellyn range that is past Sticks pass.


9 Stybarrow Dodd 843m

Stybarrow Dodd is the 9th highest peak of the eastern fells and the 21st highest peak out of all of the wainwrights. Located immediately north of Sticks pass on the Helvellyn range, this peak lies between Thirlmere and Ullswater.
10 St Sunday Crag 841m

St Sunday Crag is the 10th highest peak in the eastern fells and the 23rd highest of all 214 wainwrights. St Sunday Crag towers above the village of Patterdale with the wainwrights of Birks and Arnison Crag nestled between the village and the Summit of St Sunday crag. These 3 fells are often completed in the same walk.


11 Hart Crag 882m

Hart Crag is the 11th highest peak in the eastern fells and the 27th highest of all the wainwrights. Hart Crag is located just above Ambleside within the Fairfield group. Hart crag forms part of the Fairfield horseshoe and is the 4th wainwright in if starting on the southern side. Hart Crag is the closest wainwright to Fairfield.
12 Dove Crag 792m

Dove Crag is the 12th highest fell in the eastern wainwrights and the 38th highest of all the wainwrights. Dove Crag is located above both Ambleside and Hartsop. Dove Crag is part of the Fairfield horseshoe however there are routes that branch off towards other wainwrights such as Little Hart Crag which leads down to Hartsop.


13 Watsons Dodd 789m

Watson's Dodd is the 13th highest peak in the eastern fells and the 41st highest in the wainwrights. Watsons Dodd is located on the Helvellyn range north of sticks pass. Its is the 3rd highest of the 4 located north of sticks pass on this range.
14 Red Screes 776m

Red Screes is the 14th highest of the eastern fells and the 49th highest of all the wainwrights. Red Screes is located just outside the Fairfield group to the east and has its own independent status. Red Screes towers over Hartsop and is usual summit from Kirkstone pass up the steep scrambly route to the summit.


15 Great Rigg 766m

Great Rigg is the 15th highest of the eastern fells and the 54th highest of all the wainwrights. Great rigg is part of the Fairfield horseshoe and stands as 1 of the 8 wainwrights in the Fairfield horseshoe. Great Rigg is the 4th highest out of the 8.
16 Hart Side 756m

Hart Side is the 16th highest fell in the eastern wainwrights and the 61st highest in all the wainwrights. Hart Crag is located north west of Glenridding, This peak is usually summited long with Glenridding dodd and Sheffield Pike.


17 Seat Sandal 737m

Seat Sandal is the 17th highest of the eastern fells and the 68th highest of all the wainwrights. Seat Sandal towers above the east of Dunmail, Looking from west to east it is opposite St sunday Crag and nestled inbetween the Helvellyn range and the Fairfield group.
18 Clough Head 726m

Clough Head is the 18th highest of the eastern fells and the 74th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Clough Head is the Northern most summit on the Helvellyn range it is located just south of Threlkeld. To the west of the summit is St johns in the vale and the small central wainwright, High Rigg.


19 Birkhouse Moor 718m

Birkhouse Moor is the 19th highest wainwright in the eastern fells and the overall 78th highest of the 214. Birkhouse Moor is and outlying fell of the Helvellyn range, Its is most commonly summited on the way to Helvellyn via striding edge.
20 Sheffield Pike 675m

Sheffield Pike is the 20th highest peak in the eastern fells and the 99th highest fell of all the wainwrights. Sheffield pike is located above Glenridding and Ullswater, it is inbetween two other wainwrights, Glenridding Dodd and Hart Side to the east of the Hellvelyn range.


21 High Pike 658m

High Pike is the 21st highest mountain of the eastern fells and 107th of all the wainwrights. Hike Pike is located just above Ambleside, it is part of the Fairfield group and the Fairfield horsehsoe route. If starting on the southern side of the route it is the second wainwright you will summit.
22 Middle Dodd 654m

Middle Dodd is the 22nd highest of the eastern fells and the 112th highest of all the wainwrights. Middle dodd is located above kirkstone pass to the west, it is an outline fell of the Helvellyn range and its closest peak is Red Screes.


23 Little Hart Crag 637m

Little Hart Crag is the 23rd highest of the eastern fells and the 119th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Little Hart Crag is located just outside of the Fairfield group, It can be summited when doing the horseshoe in between High Pike and Dove Crag. Little Hart Crag also connects directly onto Red Screes and High Hartsop Dodd.
24 Birks 622m

Birks is the 24th highest of the eastern fells, and the 124th highest of all the wainwrights. Birks is located above the village Patterdale. Birks is the second wainwright of 2 that lead to the towering summit of St Sunday crag, the other being the smaller Arnison Crag


25 Heron Pike 612m

Heron Pike is the 25th highest peak of the eastern fells and the 127th overall in all the wainwrights. Heron pike is located on the fairfield horseshoe, it is one of the smaller fells of the 8 situated 2 wainwrights from the start or finish of the route depending on how you do it.
26 Hartsop Above How 581m

Hartsop above How is the 26th highest of all the eastern fells and the 136th highest wainwright. Hartsop Above How is located above Hartsop and leads down to Brothers water. Continuing upwards from Hartsop Above How you will reach Hart Crag fell.


27 Great Mell Fell 537m

Great Mell Fell is the 27th highest of the eastern fells and the 155th highest of all the wainwrights. Great Mell Fell is located just north of Ullswater and is a stand alone fell. Although it is a stand alone wainwright it is often done along with Little Mell Fell and Gowbarrow Fell.
28 High Hartsop Dodd 519m

High Hartsop Dodd is the 28th highest of the eastern fells and the 164th highest of all 214 wainwrights. High Hartsop Dodd is located above Kirkstone pass and leads down directly to Brothers water, Contiuning up from High Hartsop Dodd you will reach Little Hart Crag.


29 Low Pike 508m

Low Pike is the 29th highest of the eastern fells and 172nd highest of all the wainwrights. Low Pike is located at the base of the Fairfield horseshoe, just above Ambleside. Low Pike is most commonly the first peak summited when doing the Fairfield horseshoe.
30 Little Mell Fell 505m

Little Mell Fell is the 30th highest fell of the eastern wainwrights and the 173rd highest of all the wainwrights. Little Mell Fell is located north of Ullswater and to the east of its parent peak, Great Mell Fell. Little Mell Fell is a stand alone wainwright but is often summited along with Great Mell Fell and Gowbarrow Fell.


31 Stone Arthur 504m

Stone Arthur is the 31st highest of the eastern fells and the 174th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Stone Arthur is located in the Fairfield group above Grasmere, Stone Arthur can be done along with the Fairfield horseshoe as an out and back section of the route, alternatively it is doable as a solo venture from Grasmere.
32 Gowbarrow Fell 481m

Gowbarrow Fell is the 32nd highest of the eastern fells and the 181st highest of all 214 wainwrights. Gowbarrow fell is located north of Ullswater and just above the iconic Aira Force waterfall. Gowbarrow Fell can be summited as a solo venture or with the wainwrgights, Great Mell Fell and Little Mell Fell.


33 Nab Scar 450m

Nab Scar is the 33rd highest peak of the eastern fells and the 190th highest of all the wainwrights. It is located at the base of the Fairfield horseshoe just above Rydal water and is the smallest fell in the Fairfield group. Nab Scar is often the last peak summited on the Fairfield horseshoe.
34 Glenridding Dodd 442m

Glenridding Dodd is the 34 highest or second smallest of all the eastern fells and the 193rd highest of all the wainwrights. Glenridding Dodd is located just above Glenridding on the western shore of Ullswater lake. Glenridding Dodd is the smallest fell that surrounds Glenridding.


35 Arnison Crag 433m

Arnison Crag is the smallest of the 35 eastern fells and the 19th highest of the 214 wainwrights. Arnison Crag is located above Patterdale and leads onto the towering St Sunday Crag via Birks.
