27 Central Wainwrights

1 High Raise 762m

High Raise is the highest mountain in the central fells and the 57th highest in all the wainwrights. There are two High Raise wainwrights this peak and another higher peak located in the Far Eastern fells. High raise is the most central fell of all the wainwrights in the Lake District national park and is a short walk from the tops of the langdale pikes.
2 Sergeant Man 736m

Sergeant Man is the 2nd highest wainwright in the central fells and the 69th highest of all the wainwrights. Sergeant man is located next to its parent peak High Raise, although close in distance the summit terrain is completely different, The summit of Sergeant Man is formed in a rocky cone shape.


3 Harrison Stickle 736m

Harrison Stickle is the 3rd highest of the central fells and the 70th highest of all the wainwrights. Harrison Stickle is located above great Langdale and is one of the 3 peaks which makes up the iconic Langdale pikes along with pike of stickle and loft crag. Harrison stickle is the highest of the Langdales.
4 Ullscarf 726m

Ullscarf is the 4th highest wainwright in the central fells and the 75th highest of all the Lake District wainwrights. Ullscarf is the highest of the central fells outside of the peaks in and around the Langdale's. Ullscarf is not usually summited as a solo venture and can be done with eagle crag and Sergeant Crag.


5 Thunacar Knott 723m

Thunacar Knott is the 5th highest fell in the central wainwrights and 76th highest of all the fells. Thunacar Knott is located behind the Langdale pikes and is a short walks from all the peaks in the area including the iconic Harrison Stickle and the highest of the central fell High Seat. Thunacar Knott is not usually completed as a solo venture.
6 Pike of Stickle 709m

Pike of Stickle is the 6th highest peak of the central fells and the 83rd highest peak of all the wainwrights. Pike of stickle is located in the Great Langdale valley and forms 1 of the 3 Langdale pikes along with Harrison stickle and loft crag. This peak is rarely summitted on its own.


7 Pavey Ark 700m

Pavey Ark is the 7th highest wainwright in the central fells and the 89th highest in all the 214 wainwrights. Pavey ark is located just east of the iconic peak, Harrison stickle. The summit of Pavey ark is usually made via the scramble up jacks rake a popular route within the Lake District. The rock face on Pavey ark is also popular amongst climbers.
8 Loft Crag 680m

Loft Crag is the 8th highest of the central wainwrights and the 98th highest of them all. Loft crag is situated above the Great Langdale valley and forms the 3rd of the iconic langdale pikes. Loft crag and the two other Langdale pikes, Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle are usually summited in the same walk.


9 High Seat 608m

High Seat is the 9th highest central fell and the 129th highest of all the wainwrights. Located in between Thirlmere and Derwentwater High Seat is the highest fell in the immediate and has 5 other wainwrights close by. High Seat is the highest point in the seat fells within a 5 mile radius due to its location.
10 Bleaberry Fell 590m

Bleaberry Fell is the 10th highest of the central fells and the 132nd highest of all the wainwrights. Bleaberry is situated just north of its parent peak, High seat both in which lies between the great lakes of Thrilmere and Derwentwater. Bleaberry is the second highest peak in this immeditate area and is just a short walk from High Seat.


11 Sergeants Crag 571m

Sergeant's Crag is the 11th highest mountain in the central fells and the 141st highest of all the wainwrights. Sergeants crag is located in between Langstrath and Greenup valleys. Sergeants crag is just south of eagle crag these two wainwrights are usually done together.
12 Steel Fell 553m

Steel Fell is the 12th highest peak in the central fells and the 146th highest of all the wainwrights. Steel fell is located west of dunmail inbetween Thrilmere and Grasmere. Steel fell is usually summited from Grasmere and can be completed along with the popular Helm Crag, situated south of Steel Fell.


13 Tarn Crag 549m

​​Tarn Crag is the 13th highest of the central fells and the overall 151st highest of the wainwrights. Tarn Crag lies inbetween Pavey ark and Calf crag somewhat separated from other wainwrights. Tarn carg is usually summited as a solo venture via the popular route which passes around Easedale tarn.
14 Blea Rigg 541m

Blea Rigg is the 14th highest of the central fells and the 152nd highest of all the wainwrights. Blea Rigg is located between the great Langdale and Easdale. Blea Rigg is surrounded by fells in all directions and can be summitted from Grasmere, Great Langdale and Even Stonthwaite.


15 Calf Crag 537m

Calf Crag is the 15th highest of the central fells and the 154th in height of all the wainwrights. Calf crag is located above Grasmere and Easdale it is connected to three diffrent wainwrights all in different directions, Steel fell, Tarn crag and Gibson Knott which leads to Helm Crag.
16 Eagle Crag 525m

Eagle Crag is the 16th highest of the central fells and the 160th highest of all the wainwrights. Eagle crag issituated above Stonethwaite via a scramble through heather. Calf crag joins on to Sergeants Crag, both of these peaks are usually summited along with Ullscarf.


17 High Tove 515m

High Tove is the 17th highest of the central fells and the 167th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. High Tove is situated in between Thrilmere and Derwent water, connected vis a short walk to its parent peak High Seat, The Highest in the broad ridge it sits on.
18 Armboth Fell 480m

Armboth Fell is the 18th highest central fell and holds the overall rank of the 182nd highest wainwright. Armboth fell overlooks Thirlmere to the east, it is nestled on a broad ridge between Thirlmere and to the west Derwentwater. Accesses to this peak is via a boggy path.


19 Raven Crag 461m

Raven Crag is the 19th highest central fell out of 27 and the 186th highest of all 214 wainwrights. Raven Crag towers above Thirlmere, its viewpoint on the summit is regarded as one of the best view point in the Lake District national park. Even from Thrilmere Raven Crags rockface is an impressive sight.
20 Great Crag 449m

Great Crag is the 20th highest fell in the central wainwrights and the 191st highest of all the wainwrights. Great crag is in close proximity to Grange Fell, both of which are located above the Hamlets, Rosthwaite and Stonthwaite in Borrowdale. There are no clear paths to this summit and area is covered in heather.


21 Gibson Knott 420m

Gibson Knott is the 21st highest of the central fells and the overall 198th highest of the wainwrights. Calf crag is located on a broad ridge inbetween Greenburn and Easdale. There are only two other wainwrights connecting directly to this fell, Helm Crag to the south and Calf Crag to the north.
22 Grange Fell 416m

Grange Fell is the 22nd highest of the 27 central fells it is a small fell within and overall height ranking of 200 out of the 214 wainwrights. This small wainwright overlooks the borrowdale valley above the hamlet of Rosthwaite. The views out across Derwent water form the summit are sensational


23 Helm Crag 405m

Helm Crag is the 23rd highest of the central fells and the 201st highest of the wainwrights. Helm Crag towers over the popular village of Grasmere and is very well known amongst hikers. Helm Crags rocky summit is up there as being one of the most recognisable.
24 Silver How 395m

Silver How is the 24th highest in the central fells and the 202nd highest of all the wainwrights. Silver How is located to the west of Grasmere village and is connected along a broad rocky ridgeline to Blea rigg. From the summit Lake Windermere is visible on a clear day.


25 Walla Crag 379m

Walla Crag is the 25th highest of the central fells and the 204th highest of all the 214 wainwrights. Walla Crag is situated right above Derwent water ON A section of lands which separate Derwent water and Thrilmere from each other. Walla Crag is the smallest wainwright on this section.
26 High Rigg 357m

High Rigg is the 26th highest of the 27 central fells and the 209th highest of all the wainwrights. High Rigg is a very isolated mountain, it is the northern most of all the central wainwirghts and is surrounded by much higher peaks. High Rigg is not connected to any other peak the summit is on a singular broad ridge.


27 Loughrigg Fell 335m

Loughrigg Fell is the smallest of the 27 central fells and the most popular of the them all. Loughrigg is ranked 211th in height out of the 214 wainwrights. Loughrigg is the most southern of all the central fells and is located just above Ambleside. This wainwright is family friendly and usually done as a solo venture.
